Housing Registry

Finding a place to live just got easier! Students can quickly search the housing registry for rentals to match their criteria. Interesting ads can be emailed out or saved for easy comparison. Whether you're moving out for the first time, locating to a new city for school, or simply looking for a place to live, this on-line registry is all you need.

Property owners now have an effective way to reach an immense rental market. For FREE, rental property can be listed, complete with pictures, important facts, and personalized descriptions. Housing ads can be updated and improved at any time. Our high levels of student traffic make this registry the ideal location to advertise your rental property.


Search For Rentals

From the Housing page, select Search For Rentals.

1. Use our online search to find housing to match your criteria.
2. Contact the property owner to confirm details and availability.
3. Arrange a viewing.

Important - Always meet during regular business hours and take a friend with you.

Additional Features
- Email housing details to yourself or a friend.
- Login to save housing ads for easy comparison.
- Use our convenient link to MapQuest to find the property's exact location.


Search Criteria

State & City: limit your search to a single State or specific metropolitan area
Region in City: select from the list which area of the city the property is located
Type of Rental: select from the list what type of rental unit you are looking for


Search Tips

  • click on a column heading to sort your search results by type, price, number of bedrooms, or address


My Saved Listings

Registered users can save listings from the search results grid as well as the details page for a specific rental. This feature enables you to save as many listings as you like for future reference and quick comparison.

To save an ad:

1.  Execute a housing search.
2.  Check the box beside the ad(s) that you are interested in.
3.  Select 'Save Ads' at the top of the results grid.
4.  You will receive a confirmation message to inform you that the ads have been saved.
5.  Click on the My Saved Listings link to view all of the housing ads you have saved.

Note: you must be logged in to save ads. If you do not yet have an account, you can register today for free.


Tips

  • To save all listings returned by a search, check the box in the column heading.
  • You can also save an ad from the housing detail page - simply click the 'Save This Listing' link.


List A Property

Listing Your Property is easy! 

Follow our 4 simple steps to advertise your rental property online today. Please note that only PlanetStudents.com members can add a listing. If you have not yet registered , you can do so for free today.

To list a property:

1. Select 'List a Property' from the Housing page.
2. Enter listing information.
3. Display the property with up to 5 images.
4. Review listing details and confirm listing.

Additional Features
- Use 'My Listings' to monitor the exposure of your housing ad.
- Mark the property as RENTED to track your rental success.
- Edit and improve listing details at any time.


Required Fields

Listing Name: enter the building name, or create a name for your property (i.e. Renovated Downtown Condo)
Type: specify the type of rental housing (i.e. apartment)
Address: the street address for the property
Country: currently, your only option is Canada
State: the State where the property is located
Metropolitan Area: the major city in or close to the property
Region Within City: specify the city area (central, north, northeast, etc)
- when a user searches for South rentals, all South, Southeast, and Southwest listings are returned
Contact Name: the name of the person to contact regarding the property
Voice Phone: a phone number for the contact person
Price per Month: the monthly rent
Security Deposit: the security / damage deposit
- if not applicable, enter $0.00
Term: length of lease (i.e. month-to-month, six months, one year, etc)
Date Available: the date that the property will be ready for a new renter
Description: here's your chance to really sell your property! Enter any additional features or relevant information, such as:
- unique features, rental incentives, access to public transit, community information, etc


Optional Fields

City: the satellite city or specific community
- this can be the same as the Metropolitan Area
Postal / Zip Code: the property's postal code
Website URL: enter a link to a website where more information can be found
Square Footage: the total size of the rental area
Included In Rent: check any utilities that are included in the monthly rent
Features: check all of the building and property features
Other Appliances: check all appliances that come with the rental property
Parking: check which parking options are available
- use the Description area to list any additional costs associated with parking

Prices

Search:

FREE!! Any user can search the database and view full ad details at no cost.

List Property:

FREE!! Any user can list property at no cost.



My Listings

From the Housing page, select My Listings. Any rental properties you have posted will be shown in a table similar to the search results, allowing you to easily manage all listings at a glance.

Options

Edit update property information, add pictures, or reduce your selling price
- select the Edit icon under the Action column, update property information and pictures, then click 'Finish'
Mark as Rented keep track of the properties you have rented
- use the check boxes to select your rented properties, then click 'Mark as Rented'
Delete remove listings that you no longer wish rent
- use the check boxes to select the properties you would like to delete, then click 'Delete'
View your properties for rent are displayed in an easy-to-read table
- click the 'View' click in the Picture column to view the full listing
Sort click on a column header to sort your rental properties
Track the 'Times Viewed' column shows the number of times a user has viewed the full listing
- note: this does not count the number of times the property is returned from a user's search
